| In August 1991 I had an exhibition called
'Caricature Portraits' at the Pundole Art Gallery, Mumbai. They were
in the form of terracotta reliefs and serigraphs. The art of caricature
gives me the freedom to do away with the exact likeness and try and
explore the psychological make-up of the chosen subject. Caricaturing
is a very serious art form and should be given the place it deserves,
especially in India, as there is no dearth of very interesting characters,
be it a politician or a sports star or a film star or just about anybody.
